Doulaography

Hi,

I'm Sara Knowles and welcome to my profile. I am a mother of 2 (daughter 2017 and son 2020), wife and a friend to many. I trained as a doula already back in 2019 in between having my babies and finally started working as a doula in May 2023. I became a doula because I found early motherhood, pregnancy including, really hard. When a baby is born, a mother is born and with each baby we birth a new version of ourselves.

Since I started working in May last year, I have already supported several families in different stages of parenthood. I believe meeting each parent and family with kindness and empathy. No matter what your circumstances are, we will all face our own hardships. Becoming a mother/ parent is probably the biggest transformation a person can go through in their lifetime. Life with a newborn can be a whirlwind and having someone non-judgemental there to support you and cheer you on can make all the difference in your physical and emotional well-being as a new mother.

As your postnatal doula I will help you find your own inner voice as a parent and tone down the voices of the outside world. I will help you feel calm, confident and connected as you step into your new role as a parent. I offer emotional and practical support in your own home. I will happily hold your baby whilst you rest or take time for yourself. I can cook nourishing meals for whole family to enjoy and I can do some light cleaning so you can concentrate on bonding with your baby. Should you have any questions, I can do research for you so you can make fully informed decisions about your and your baby's wellbeing. I can signpost you to evidence based resources and other specialists should you need more specialist knowledge in your postnatal period.

My clients often describe as warm, kind, empathetic and trustworthy. I have experience in supporting parents with newborns, a bit older babies and even twins. I keep in touch with my clients regularly outside of our face to face sessions and let them know that I will hold a safe space for them to discuss all the trials and tribulations of early parenthood.

You can find further details of me and the services I can provide from my webpage at www.saraknowlesdoula.co.uk
