Derbyshire Doula was born after I struggled with PTSD and PND during the pregnancy and postnatal period of my youngest. I was under the care of the brilliant perinatal team who supported me through my recovery process.
After being discharged, the world seemed noticeably big and lonely and so I formed a local support group of mums who could come together and talk openly about mental health in pregnancy. I would often open my home to mums who needed a safe place. This quickly grew and sensing the need of more support for my community I left my job and retrained as a doula and in 2019 Derbyshire Doula was born.
My aims are to solve the issues of:
- The lack of in-depth knowledge provided to pregnant parents.
- The lack of emotional support that can be provided to parents.
- Mum becoming rushed and just another figure.
- Changing the face of mental health within pregnancy.
-Supporting families in finding an approach that fits them.
-Providing families with legal knowledge and empowerment regarding maternity

I hired Immy (The Derbyshire Doula) for postnatal support and unfortunately had a disappointing experience.
While she came across as kind and capable at first, there were ongoing concerns with reliability and communication. Messages were often left unanswered, even when it was important, and expectations around professionalism and responsibility weren’t consistently met.
There were also comments made that felt inappropriate for someone working in a family setting, which made things uncomfortable.
In the end, I chose not to continue the arrangement. I would recommend clear boundaries and close oversight if you’re considering her services.
