Hello, I'm Sarah

Birth Supporter:  I support strong women in East Surrey who recognise the value of investing in themselves and their birth experience. Women who know that the NHS maternity system alone won’t deliver the support they need because they deserve more for the most significant transition of their lives; becoming a mother.  My continuous presence brings warmth, humour and calm reassurance to your birth space. As well as:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the physiology of birth
  • Unquestioning trust in your decisions and your body
  • Suggestions of alternative comfortable positions
  • Protection of your space, advocacy, asking for time and space when being asked to make decisions
  • Control of the environment; lighting, temperature, sounds, smells
  • Ensure you remain hydrated, nourished and rested between surges
  • Physical support, such as massage and hip squeezes
  • Prioritising your birth preferences
  • Remaining with you or your baby in the hours after birth
  • Supporting your birth partner and ensuring they feel a part of the experience too

Postnatal Support: Imagine being home having recently birthed a baby, questioning if everything you’re feeling is “normal” wondering if you’re doing it the right way, processing the hugely emotional experience you’ve just been through, whilst physically recovering, being deprived of sleep on top of trying to learn how to feed them and understand what they’re trying to tell you.

That's why I am here to help. Providing compassionate care, practical assistance, emotional and informational support while you navigate your postnatal period.

I offer reassurance, a listening ear and a helping hand. I’m guided by what you tell me you need as well as taking some initiative to notice household tasks that need to get done; empty an overflowing bin, hang up damp laundry to dry or make you a sandwich.

By your side throughout, supporting you and your birth partner. I'll bring reassurance, encouragement and support to your birth space.

I believe that effective support can make a real difference to the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of postpartum mothers.  If you’re anxious about what parenthood might look like, or don’t have the network around you that you need,  send me a message to schedule a face to face chat to explore how it could benefit you.

Sarah’s service during the first three weeks post-partum of my second child was nothing short of amazing. As someone with no family nearby, navigating the challenges of those first few weeks seemed daunting. However, Sarah stepped in and provided emotional support, signposted me when I had feeding concerns, and stepped in for me around the house. On the days when Sarah visited, I could focus solely on enjoying my newborn and her intuitive ability to anticipate my needs without prompting was something that only a fellow mum could provide. I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough to anyone needing a compassionate and supportive doula during such a magical yet tricky time.

After a very challenging start to parenthood, Sarah provided some much needed respite. At the time of employment, our baby was a contact napping princess and Sarah would happily walk about with her for hours no matter the weather conditions to provide me, the mum, with a moment to catch my breath and reset for the rest of the week ahead. As well as racking up thousands of steps with our baby, Sarah would sprinkle her magic dust over the house whilst I was feeding: washing dishes, hanging washing out, making lunch, doing the bins and was even willing to walk the dog in torrential rain! I loved how Sarah made herself at home; quickly learning the layout of the house and most importantly, our tea orders! Sarah brought some much needed light to our situation. Always kind and patient we would hire her again in a heartbeat.

"Sarah went above and beyond"

Sarah came into our lives at a challenging point in my postnatal journey and provided exemplary care for our newborn and older child as well as kindness and a wealth of information for my husband and I. She was able to anticipate their needs on the go and was a safe pair of hands allowing me to get the rest I needed. Sarah went above and beyond – researching and tapping into her extensive network of other doulas, postnatal care providers etc. to provide helpful information and advice. Most importantly at all – Sarah was kind, gentle and empathetic, qualities that are hugely important when you’ve just had a baby. We would highly recommend Sarah.
