I knew I wanted my husband as my birth partner but I also wanted the presence of a well informed female with experience in coaching women through pregnancy and childbirth. Through a recommendation, I decided to choose Hannah. From the beginning Hannah makes an effort to create a lovely relationship between us and her cultivating trust and comfort – vital for the labour process! She’s very well informed and guided us through the unexpected hiccups during pregnancy that might leave you confused. We also took her hypnobirthing course after which we were sort of sold on trying a home birth! She’s very approachable and always available via text or phone if needed. Hannah clearly puts her clients first – in my case, she stayed with me throughout a very very long labour despite going over her contracted hours and negotiated with medical staff to ensure my needs were put first. Having Hannah there meant that my husband could focus on supporting me emotionally as she ensured the everything ran smoothly in the background: environment, preferences, food, water, pool etc. Her post partum visits were a breath of fresh air as we debriefed my labour experience which helped me process it. I honestly don’t know how I would have done it without her! Thank you Hannah x
I’ve said thank you to Hannah so many times she’s probably sick of me! But I honestly can’t thank her enough and will be forever greatful for the support she has given us during our pregnancy and birth. We took the hypnobirthing classes and were blown away by the knowledge and experience Hannah has, she also makes it fun and she has a sense of humor. I felt like from the beginning she truly cared about us and that only got stronger throughout the time we worked with her. During my labour and birth Hannah was with me the whole time as an extra pair of hands and support I probably would have forgotten things like eating / drinking / breathing if it wasn’t for Hannah. She’s been such an amazing support for us when things didn’t go quiet to plan and I’m so glad we had her help to guide us through and keep us calm. I would recommend Hannah if you are thinking about hiring a doula, if I ever go through this process again we will definitely be having Hannah there. 💗💗💗
I had approached Hannah after finding her on Doula UK & we had a chat online to meet one another. Straight away I knew Hannah would be perfect to support our birth, she is calm, nurturing, passionate, incredibly knowledgeable & has a great sense of humour.
Hannah supported us to choose a family centred package of education and support. She provided us with hypnobirthing and birth education that was incredibly helpful and stood us in really good stead & enabled us to start to make preparations for the birth.
Hannah always made my husband feel really included, checking in with him & making a special effort to check in with jim and develop a relationship with him,
I had planned a home birth, but due to my BMI was out on consultant led care. Although no health issues were picked up for me or baby throughout my pregnancy & the midwife’s were always supportive of my choice to birth naturally.
Every time I met with the consultant, a number of issues would be brought up that would frighten me and try to convince me to have an induction or c-section. This was due to my baby being estimated at 11lb, and concerns that I wouldn’t be able to birth him and risking shoulder dystocia. And then I started to approach 42 weeks of pregnancy, which increased the pressure around this!
I messaged Hannah constantly towards the end of my pregnancy & she was able to confidently articulate the actual research made around the risk issues, which helped me make informed choices about my care. Hannah was always so responsive and couldn’t do enough.
On a particularly tough day, where the consultant told me I needed an ‘emergency Caesarian’ because of my gestation and babies size, despite already being in labour, as I had gone into early labour the night before. Because of this, my contractions stopped and I was stressed and emotional. Hannah supported emotionally via phone all day – and later, dropped off some home made relaxation oils and bath salts, with some oxytocin massage instructions to try and get me back in the birthing zone.
When I went into labour, Hannah arrived at 3am and supported me both emotionally and practically throughout. She praised and championed me, even at times when I had lost the belief in myself. She helped with natural pain relief options, massage and supported my husband to be involved, which I know he appreciated. Hannah created a safe and nurturing birth space, and protected my birth plan throughout & the midwife’s from the home birth team were also very supportive. Hannah made sure I was meeting my own basic needs throughout, getting me drinks, food and anything else that was needed. She was calm and supportive energy holding me throughout.
Because of Hannah’s support I was able to be educated and informed around the decision making for my birth & I got the home birth I so wanted. It was such an intense but wonderful experience & felt really healing after having a very traumatic birth in hospital with my first child (where I was too scared to say no and ended up with a long and painful induction, and failed epidural in stirrups).
After the birth, Hannah has supported me with breast feeding advice, signposting and baby massage. I cannot thank Hannah enough for everything she has done for us and he constant support and belief in us. she completely positively changed our birth experience & I would recommend her to anyone looking for a supportive and empowering birth experience however they choose to deliver ❤️
