Hello! I’m Nikki - Hand in hand Doula. I'm a Birth and Postnatal Doula, Breastfeeding Counsellor and also a mum of 3 based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I'm a passionate and experienced doula offering empowering support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. The perinatal period is such a powerful and transformative time in your life, and you deserve to feel calm, confident, and completely supported, and that's where I come in. Whether you're pregnant, settling into early parenthood, or looking for support with breastfeeding, I'm here to walk beside you every step of the way. I will provide you with emotional and practical support, guidance finding evidence-based information and help understanding your birth rights so you are able to make informed decisions and have the best experience possible. I believe that you should feel empowered, respected and in control as you navigate your journey. I want you to make confident decisions that are right for you and feel truly supported all the way, whether you birth in hospital, at home or are birthing outside of the system. As your Doula, I am committed to being by your side, always focusing on you and providing all the support and encouragement you need.

I was drawn to becoming a Doula after having worked in the NHS for over 10 years supporting new parents within children’s services and infant feeding. Sadly, I was finding more often that women were experiencing birth trauma which was significantly impacting their postpartum and breastfeeding journeys. I knew that I wanted to make a difference to families by supporting them to have the best birth and postpartum experience possible – so here I am, and I feel lucky to be doing what I love and being part of something so special!

As a Breastfeeding Counsellor, I have over 18 years’ experience of supporting families on their infant feeding journeys. Over the years I have developed a wide range of skills and in-depth knowledge, and completed extensive training in breastfeeding and lactation, to which I continue to build on. Breastfeeding is something I am deeply passionate about and my aim is to support you in reaching your feeding goals, whatever they may be. My feeding support can start from pregnancy through to the postpartum period. I offer an antenatal Breastfeeding Masterclass, to help you build on your confidence and knowledge around infant feeding, so you feel well prepared for the early days with your baby. In the postpartum period, I continue to offer both practical and emotional support, whether you’re facing challenges such as sore nipples or simply need reassurance and encouragement.
