For Bump and Birth….
Since having my own children and having the privilege of experiencing four very different one to one births, I have a desire to see other new parents nurtured and cared for in the same way through their births and beyond.
I want new parents to be informed about the options available to them and to experience their birth, their way. No two births are the same and not all are straightforward, indeed some will need pain relief or intervention, but a successful birth is about being able to look back and say you felt supported in your birth preparation and cared for, encouraged and empowered during labour and birth.
I encourage the principles of hypnobirthing and I have also been studying Birthing Biomechanics, finding ways of opening the pelvis at different stages of birth in order to allow more room for your baby to descend as they are being born.
I want to help mums-to-be to develop a positive approach to birth, ensuring that you are confident, prepared and able to trust and work with your body, making labour more efficient and comfortable for you and your baby. A positive birth experience is really important because it’s the feelings about the birth that last in the long term. And it isn’t all about “natural birth” either, I want to support women in whatever type of birth they decide is right for them, their partner and baby.
And beyond….
My children are grown up and leaving home on new adventures now but I still love nurturing and caring for my family and friends with babies and young children.
For you, I aim to offer encouragement and practical help by providing a supportive and stress-free environment so that you can quickly recover from the birth, bond with your baby and discover and develop confidence in your own parenting skills. I am happy to support first time parents with breastfeeding (or formula if breastfeeding isn’t possible or desired) and instruct on looking after baby as well as helping around the house.
I’m a passionate cook and baker. In recent years I’ve run a cook school for students and I regularly make celebration cakes including wedding cakes. Using these skills, I can help new parents by preparing meals and baked goods to help stock the freezer or providing quick and nutritious recipes. I can also help entertain older siblings with simple baking projects.
I’ve been a full-time Mum for 20 years and during that time I’ve had numerous and diverse experiences and gained a wide range of skills, from running a Toddler-Dancing Group for twelve years and baking in small groups at infant school to being a Governor at our local high school.
While I’m organised and practical, as a Doula, devoted to my charge, I also bring love, nurture and care.
“Love is patient and kind, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. Love never fails”.

When my husband and I first met Sally we were immediately struck by her warmth and genuineness and how she completely put us at ease. It felt like we had already known her for a while despite just meeting her and over the course of our exchanges (in-person and electronic) it became apparent to us that we could totally trust and rely on Sally during a sensitive, highly emotional and deeply personal experience. Sally was also an invaluable source of information for a lot of different things which really helped to make me feel empowered and armed with knowledge as I approached the birth of my baby. Following our baby’s birth, Sally also helped us for a bit as we adjusted to our expanded family and she instinctively knew where help was needed which made our lives a whole lot easier. We are very grateful for Sally’s support and we would recommend her highly to anyone considering hiring a doula!
Sally is an amazing person and a great professional. I was very lucky to have her as my doula. During our antenatal sessions, Sally helped me greatly to think through and understand my birth plan preferences. Sally’s calm and friendly spirit, along with her quick responses to my questions, helped me feel secure during my final stages of pregnancy.
I remember the relief I felt once Sally arrived at our place on the day of my labour. Even my pain felt less severe. My choice was for a natural delivery. However, my delivery turned out to be quite complicated. It took many hours for the baby to move into the proper position. All this time, Sally was there for me, holding my hand, giving me sips of her magic smoothie, and caring for me at every level. She encouraged and helped me to move, which was essential for the progress of the birth (but very hard to do on my own). She also worked closely with the maternity nurses so that together, they provided excellent care. Thanks to Sally, the birth of our daughter went smoothly and happily, even though it lasted for the whole 12 hours. We will always be grateful to her for making this a joyfully memorable experience!
Sally came into my life as a postpartum doula and turned it the right way up again! She is a calm, comforting and positive presence and I simply couldn’t have done without her during the first few months of my newborn. She had lots of great advice when I sought it but was never restrictive or judgmental. I felt/feel very safe in her hands and would recommend her wholeheartedly. My little one also adores her 😊
