Hi, I’m Terri, the heart and hands behind Cornwall Hypnobirthing & Doula Service, based in Newquay (but covering most of Cornwall). For over 12 years, I’ve been supporting birthing people and their families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond — and I consider it one of the greatest privileges of my life. With 101 Doula clients supported to date, I bring a deep well of experience, empathy, confidence and calm presence to every client I work with. I blend Hypnobirthing, continuous birth doula support, evidence-based research (and hypnotherapy if that's something you want) so that you're supported mentally, emotionally, and physically. I offer a flexible & inclusive service including:
Doula Packages: I offer full Hypnobirthing Birth Doula support, shorter antenatal doula-only packages, and short-notice doula help for last-minute needs. I also offer Virtual Doula packages to fit different budgets and needs.
Workshops: Hypnobirthing courses, one-to-one antenatal / birth preparation classes, Power Hours, Birth Planning and Rebozo workshops.
Hypnotherapy: As a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, I support not just birth-related anxiety, but also stress, fear, phobias, confidence, and even past birth trauma.
My aim is to help you tap into your own confidence, navigate the maternity system with clarity, and approach birth with a mindset rooted in your values, knowledge, and strength. If you want someone in your corner who is deeply experienced, compassionate, and ready to advocate for you — let’s talk. I offer a free, no obligation 30 minute consultation where we can meet and get the vibe for one another. This is a great chance for you ask any questions you may have, get to know me a little, and talk about how we might best work together.

My husband and I worked with Terri to prepare for the arrival of our first baby. We opted for complete antenatal support & education, Hypnobirthing & full support during labour & birth. I cannot recommend this service enough. It was worth every penny.
Terri presents information in a way that is easy to understand and we both felt prepared, empowered and confident about the birth. Having Terri’s unlimited support during what turned out to be a complicated pregnancy was incredibly reassuring. She helped us to think through options with clarity and make well informed decisions. The hypnobirthing techniques she taught allowed me to stay calm during what could have otherwise been a stressful pregnancy.
During our elective c-section, Terri’s advocated for us, communicated with medical staff on our behalf and provided practical and emotional support to us both. Her presence allowed us to stay relaxed and present in the moment. She took photos and filmed our baby’s birth. It is incredible to have that moment captured. Although our birth was far from the home birth we initially envisioned, the experience was everything we had hoped for – calm, gentle and positive.
We’d highly recommend working with Terri and would absolutely work with her again.
We are so incredibly grateful to Terri for the support she gave us during the birth of our first baby.
Before the birth, my partner and I did antenatal sessions with Terri, and I honestly can’t overstate how valuable those were. They gave us the time and space to really get to know her, build trust, and understand her approach and how she supports people during birth. Just as importantly, those sessions equipped us with a huge amount of knowledge about physiology, about our options in different birth scenarios, and about the implications of different interventions.
When many of those scenarios actually came up during our labour, that knowledge made an enormous difference. We weren’t making decisions from fear or confusion — we were able to make empowered, informed decisions that felt right for us and our baby. It completely changed the tone of the experience. Rather than feeling swept along by the system, we felt like active participants in our own birth.
Understanding the physiology of labour was also incredibly helpful for me during contractions and pushing. Knowing what my body was doing and why I was feeling certain things helped me stay calmer and more focused, even during very intense moments.
The antenatal work also made a huge difference for my partner. It gave him confidence, understanding, and a clear role as a birth partner, which is something I think he otherwise would have missed out on almost entirely and it would have been a harder experience for both of us. He was an amazing support throughout the birth, and the preparation we did with Terry played a big part in that.
During labour itself, Terri was extraordinary. From the moment my waters broke and we found out there was meconium, she helped me stay calm and informed, sending research and reminding us of our rights and options. When she arrived in person, her presence was steady, grounding, and reassuring. She supported me practically and emotionally through a very long and intense labour with massage, touch, encouragement, helping me keep my energy up, always attuned to what I needed without ever being intrusive. It was like having my very own fairy godmother in person!
She was also an incredible advocate within the hospital system. Thanks to her (and a wonderful midwife), I was able to labour in the birth centre and use the pool, which was the most positive and supportive part of my entire birth experience, and I genuinely don’t think that would have happened without her.
Even though the birth ultimately didn’t go the way I would have “preferred”, I still feel proud of my birth experience and of what my body achieved, and a huge part of that is because of Terri. Her trust and confidence in me and my body helped me trust myself all the way through.
As a first time Mum, I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you are looking for a doula who is deeply knowledgeable, compassionate, respectful, and a warrior on your side, Terri is exceptional
This amazing human being won’t really allow me to give her this amount of credit however, I am going to.
Twice I have had the pleasure of having Terri as my Doula. The investment I paid will never cover the experience, education and support that I received in exchange.
Both of my births were straightforward, happy and healthy. No complications, no interventions and it has helped me immensely with my bond with my boys and my mental health.
Women and families don’t realise and credit the services of a doula enough. Once you have a traumatic birth, that stays with you and your child for life. I had the best births and this experience I have to treasure for the rest of my life. Words fail me to credit Terri and thank her. All I can say is if you’re not sure – invest!!! You will not regret it but you will regret not doing it.
